Description:
A derivative of phenol, BHT is a white crystalline powder known for its strong antioxidant activity. It is widely used to prevent oxidation in foods, cosmetics, and industrial products. It helps protect formulations from degradation, rancidity, and loss of efficacy.
Solubility:
Soluble in: Oil, ethanol. Insoluble in: Water.
Usage Rate:
Cosmetics & personal care: Up to 0.5%
Recommended pH Range:
pH 3–8 (BHT remains stable across a wide pH range)

• Used in packaged foods as an antioxidant additive
• Added to plastics and rubber used for food storage
• Common in skincare and cosmetic formulations
• Used in eyeliners, lipsticks, blushes, foundations, cleansers & fragrances
• Added to oils to prevent rancidity
